Pierre Boulle

Pierre Boulle was a French author best known for his two famous works: 'The Bridge over the River Kwai' (1952) and 'Planet of the Apes' (1963). Born on February 20, 1912, in Avignon, France, Boulle served as an engineer before World War II and later as a secret agent with the Free French in Singapore during the war. His experiences influenced his writing, which often combined humanistic themes with adventurous tales. Boulle's work has been adapted into successful films and continues to be celebrated for its imaginative and thought-provoking content. He passed away on January 30, 1994.
