Mikhail Sholokhov

Mikhail Sholokhov was a Soviet-Russian novelist and winner of the 1965 Nobel Prize in Literature. He is best known for his epic work 'And Quiet Flows the Don', a four-part novel that gives a historical account of the life of the Don Cossacks before and during World War I and the Russian Civil War. Born on May 24, 1905, in Russia, Sholokhov's works are celebrated for their powerful depiction of the struggles and resilience of the Russian people. He died on February 21, 1984.
