Freeman Wills Crofts

Freeman Wills Crofts (1879–1957) was an Irish author best known for his detective novels featuring the character Inspector Joseph French. A railway engineer by profession, Crofts' writing is well-regarded for its meticulous plotting and attention to detail in the police procedural genre. He was a leading figure in the Golden Age of Detective Fiction and a member of the Detection Club.
