Samir Amin

Samir Amin was an influential Egyptian-French Marxist economist and scholar. Born on September 3, 1931, in Cairo, Egypt, he was known for his work on the political economy of development and the global South. Amin's theories focused on the economic disparities between the North and South, dependency theory, and the concept of Eurocentrism. He authored numerous books and articles critiquing global capitalism and advocating for a more equitable world economic system. Samir Amin passed away on August 12, 2018.
