Hugh Walpole

Hugh Walpole was a prolific English novelist and short story writer, active in the early to mid-20th century. Born on March 13, 1884, in New Zealand, he moved to England as a child. Walpole became well-known for his series of novels featuring the fictional county of Glebeshire, as well as his horror fiction, including 'The Green Mirror' and 'Portrait of a Man with Red Hair'. He was part of the literary elite of his time and was knighted in 1937 for his services to literature. Walpole died on June 1, 1941.
