Francis Brett Young

Francis Brett Young (1884–1954) was an English novelist, poet, playwright, and composer. Born in Halesowen, Worcestershire, he was educated at Epsom College and Birmingham University. He worked as a physician before serving as a medical officer during World War I, an experience that influenced much of his writing. Young is known for his regional novels set in the English Midlands, as well as for his sea stories and historical fiction. His works often explore themes of nature, the human condition, and the changing social landscape of early 20th-century England.
