Miles Franklin

Miles Franklin, born Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin, was an Australian writer and feminist who is best known for her novel 'My Brilliant Career', published in 1901. The book is a semi-autobiographical account of a young girl growing up in rural Australia who aspires to become a writer. Franklin's work is celebrated for its portrayal of the struggles of women and the working class in Australia. She was also a prominent feminist and campaigned for the rights of women and literature. The prestigious Miles Franklin Literary Award was established in her honor to recognize outstanding Australian literature.
